Breathing New Life into Chapel Forty Nine

Through the community’s use and involvement, we intend to breathe new life into this historic landmark

under new ownership

Having been born and raised in the local area, we are extremely proud to have recently acquired this architectural gem.

Our renovations and refurbishments are not only sympathetic to the building’s original design but have been carried out to enhance them. We’ve incorporated modern elements, including a kitchen space and bathroom, while preserving the integrity of the historic architectural features.

History

Historic landmark with rich history

Chapel Forty Nine’s exterior stands solid and timeless, reflecting a history equally as enduring. This Gothic Revival Grade II listed building, designed by renowned architects Danby & Simpson, first opened its doors as Sunday School in 1904. Subsequently it evolved into a congregational church hall and even briefly housed an architect’s studio in the ’90s before becoming the multipurpose events space it is today. Throughout its lifetime, Chapel Forty Nine has always retained its original charm and character while adapting to meet the needs of the community.
